Arduino has been wildly popular in the U.S. for more than 15 years, and today, more than half of the company’s total solutions are delivered to American customers. As a testament to Arduino’s enduring success, its avid user base, now occupying high-level engineering and development positions, is increasingly turning to Arduino for enterprise-grade solutions.

The move to build out the U.S. operations and team marks the latest step in Arduino’s expansion into the enterprise world. Last year, the company closed a $32 million Series B funding round led by the global deep tech investor Robert Bosch Venture CapitalRenesasAnzu Partners and Arm also joined the round to help Arduino continue its mission to eliminate the barriers of moving from prototyping to production and remove the vendor lock-in issues hindering digital transformation in industrial applications with its Arduino PRO ecosystem.

Guneet Bedi, a technology industry veteran with over 20 years of experience, will lead the U.S. division as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Americas. New sales, marketing, and operations teams in Austin and Chicago will support the fast-growing demand for Arduino PRO products in manufacturing, transportation, city operations and higher education.

Arduino PRO: An Enterprise Platform for Today’s Engineers and a Catalyst for Tomorrow’s Skilled Workforce

With over 1,000 enterprise customers already on board, the Arduino PRO line has experienced remarkable year-over-year growth: Sales have doubled each year since its introduction in 2020. U.S. companies have been a significant contributor to this growth, accounting for 39% of Arduino PRO sales. Over one-third (34%) of Arduino PRO customers live in the United States.

Designed with reliability and durability in mind, Arduino PRO products are the perfect fit for industrial and commercial environments. Their robust construction ensures optimal performance and longevity, making them an ideal choice for businesses seeking dependable solutions.

What sets Arduino PRO apart is its unwavering commitment to open-source principles and the strength of its vibrant community ecosystem. By leveraging Arduino’s extensive knowledge-sharing network, professionals can now accelerate their time-to-value and reduce the total cost of ownership. Arduino solutions provide access to thousands of code libraries, tutorials and resources, developers can swiftly prototype, troubleshoot and collaborate on projects, unlocking unparalleled efficiency.

“Today’s new generation of engineers grew up building with Arduino,” said Massimo Banzi, Arduino’s co-founder, chairman and CMO. “Arduino is not just a platform for today’s engineers, but also a catalyst for creating a skilled workforce of tomorrow. By combining industrial-grade reliability with the vast resources of our open-source community, we enable businesses to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.”

One example is the widespread adoption of Arduino Opta, a secure, easy-to-use micro PLC with Industrial IoT capabilities, which launched in February and is already used by hundreds of U.S. customers. Opta puts industrial automation within anyone’s reach thanks to its computing power, flexible programming, machine learning capabilities and affordable price. Arduino PRO is a robust, scalable, end-to-end ecosystem of modules, intelligent sensors, ready-to-deploy Open PLCs and cloud services. Arduino PRO caters to the demanding requirements of the Industrial IoT with unparalleled reliability, as it is built upon high-performance solutions with over 10 years of component availability by leading industry players such as ST Micro, ARM and Renesas.

Arduino also helps U.S. companies with a significant issue of a talent gap. Arduino has a growing professional talent pool, with two out of every five professional engineers identifying Arduino as one of their core skills on LinkedIn — that’s more than 680,000 professionals in all. Further, with Harvard University selecting the Arduino platform as the center of its AI curriculum for deploying TinyML devices on Arduino hardware, Arduino is helping create tomorrow’s machine-learning engineers.

New Executive Hire and Offices Reflect Arduino’s Strategic Investment in the US

With the hiring of Bedi, Arduino gets a veteran executive who has leadership and advisory roles at industrial IoT powerhouse Relayr, Auxano Capital, time series AI company Falkonry, healthtech startup Ella Paradis, Board roles in EdTech and HealthTech ventures, as well as various roles in Cisco, Oracle and Telelogic AB. Bedi is also an active member of the alumni of Kellogg School of Management.

“There aren’t many people with the kind of cross-functional knowledge that Guneet brings to the table,” said Fabio Violante, Arduino’s CEO. “He’s proven himself to be an exceptional leader with an amazing track record. We are proud to welcome Guneet to the Arduino team.”

“I’ve always admired Arduino’s incredible combination of products and community,” said Bedi. “I am profoundly honored to join the team and look forward to continuing the important work of enhancing lives through accessible digital technologies. We provide world-class Industrial solutions with an unconventional open-source approach, and also help companies address the engineering workforce gap.”
